Brazil is going to wash your soul

It will happen in New York City on this September 5^th the well-known “Lavagem da Rua 46″/ Cleansing of 46th Street that it was very acclaimed for its enormous success in its first edition in 2008 and now it was also incorporated into the official calendar as the largest Brazilian event outside of Brazil and will open the celebrations of the Brazilian Day.

The Cleansing is more a spiritual and mystic tradition that started in Bahia. People believe that the Cleansing was originated in the times when the slaves were forced to wash the stairway of the Church for the Patron Saint’s party.

Nowadays this traditional celebration consists of an enormous procession with hundreds of baianas, vases with flowers and perfumed water in order to wash the stairway and cleanse those who believe.

This opening event of the Brazilian Day will bring several attraction s to the stage to be located on 46th Street between Madison and 5th Avenue. You will be introduced to dignitaries, sponsors and representatives who made the event possible. Then the stage will be opened to Brazilian’s world renowned artists, samba dancers and the exciting and full of Brazilian beauties “Musa do Brazilian Day’’. I will be there and what about you?
